Humanities is an extensive package with more subjects as option under it than any other streams. Humanities in +2 is also a two years course. This stream is usually pursued by those who want to make their career in the social field. This subject has a wider horizon than any other subjects. This stream teaches you about your society, its reality, customs and traditions. It also teaches about life, music, dance, art, culture, religion, sculptures, cravings, languages, History, philosophy and lots of other things.
In fact, Humanities is the most comprehensive and extensive streams among all and also one of the most neglected streams in Nepal. But now, slowly the conception of people is changing and more and more numbers of students are found to have taken this stream in Higher Secondary level.
Tribhuwan University offers various interesting subjects in Humanities at Bachelor level. Bachelor of Arts in Social Work also called (BSW) is one of the most popular subjects for students in Humanities at present. Besides this, TU offers Bachelor in Rural Development, bachelor in Mass communication and Journalism, Bachelor in Sociology, Bachelor in Economics, Bachelor in English Literature, Bachelor in Population Studies, Bachelor in History, Bachelor in Political Science, Bachelor in Law and many more.
Besides, the general Humanities subjects Tribhuwan University also has other unique subjects at bachelor’s level: Music, Dance, Film studies, Paintings, International Languages, Philosophy, Sculpture, Psychology, Jyotish, Veda and lot more.
Likewise KU offers Bachelor in Media Studies, Music and Fine Arts. Purbanchal University also has a wide range of offers: Bachelor in Journalism and mass communication, Bachelor in media Technology, Bachelor in Social Work, and Bachelor in Interior Design.
We can see that Humanities stream in bachelor’s level has the highest number of options than any other streams. And with all these countless offers, who can say that humanities is dull?

The candidate applying for admission to the 10 Plus 2 Education programme:
- must have successfully completed SLC exams at least in second division.
The final evaluation of students is done through the annual examination conducted by the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Tribhuvan University. However, for qualifying to appear in the annual examinations, students must meet the following requirements:
- The student must have a minimum of 70 percent attendance of the classes actually held.
- No student will be allowed to appear in the second year final examinations without first appearing in the first year final examinations.
The grading system in the annual examinations is as follows:
- Distinction: 75 Percent
- First Division 60 Percent
- Second Division 45 Percent
- Third Division 35 Percent
